Curtis Park and City Park

We now turn our focus to two of Denver's older and more storied neighborhoods: Curtis Park and City Park. Both are minutes from the downtown district and offer tremendous residential and cultural amenities and advantages.

Curtis Park

First developed in the 1860s as a residential Denver suburb, Curtis Park is known for its quiet, well-kept streets, as well as its social, cultural, and ethnic diversity. Bordered by Broadway to the west, Downing to the east, between 23rd and 38th Avenues, Curtis Park is in the heart of Denver's Five Points neighborhood and is a cultural melting pot. Its demographics are split almost evenly among whites, African Americans, and latinos.

Curtis Park's housing mix offers everything from single-story duplexes and new construction to renovated Victorians, rowhouses, and Denver Squares. At current, it is undergoing extensive renovation and expansion, thanks in large part to city grants, which, among other things, have brought mass transit (light rail) to the area. The neighborhood also includes three designated historic districts: Clements, San Rafael, and Glenarm Place. In addition to tremendous historical presence, Curtis Park offers exceptional artistic and performance spaces, as well as fine dining options.

City Park

Located in the heart of the city, northeast of downtown, City Park is a 370-acre central Denver landmark. Running from Josephine Street to Colorado Boulevard, from 17th to 26th avenues, this inner-city gem offers magnificient rose gardens, a series of lakes, a public golf course, tennis courts, and community-built children's playground. It also includes two exceptional cultural attractions: the Denver Zoo and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Contructed in the early 1900s as a project of the "City Beautiful" movement, the park is home to extraordinary gardens, greenery, sculpture, and wildlie, including bird species.

The surrounding City Park area is a mix of classic dwellings, from exquisite Tudors and brick craftsman bungalows to Victorians, ranches, and Spanish mission style, set against wide tree-lined streets. Its proximity to downtown and the Colfax corridor offer a tremendous array of entertainment, restaurant, and artistic selections for all walks of life.
